It is, after all, the “English” language. I mean, they better be better than Americans at it. And the Brits have always been better at witty advertising, even considering the Mad Men creative revolution.
Back to the 1890s. The UK poster ads for meat extract Bovril were something. (see two more of them here, scroll down). A crying bull! Not so many vegans around then. But the selling point of Bovril was that it was made from real beef, not beef “flavor”.
