Why do brands think all consumers are lazy? Or ignorant. The reason I hate most advertising is that it is no longer clever. It’s as subtle as a sledgehammer whacking your toe.

Because brands, and agencies, nowadays are cowards. "Risky" ads get noticed more, and if they're done right, will increase sales out the ass.

I crack up when clients decide that the gelatinous crap that the “team” produces will “go viral.” Really? Why would people share your boring shit? Let your top creatives loose. Get the fuck out of the way. There’s no secret to “going viral” — but if it smells corporate I guarantee it won’t.

McD's had an on-air commercial flight recently featuring a well-dressed Cool Girl with her entourage eloquently ordering a QPC during the PM hours... followed by a next-day AM iteration, appropriately disheveled, and ordering "one of those" by pointing at the menu board. It took me a couple of times to get it since I watch a lot of televisions on mute. Odd flex given the brand: we got you before you puke and after you puke.
