Purpose ads are, generally, disingenuous hooey. The purpose of “purpose” ads is never the purpose. Because the purpose of ALL non-nonprofit advertising is: Profit.

Pepsi Egypt social ad.

But now ya got several billboards that “clean the air”; Coles says let’s get to zero emissions together by 2050!; BK no longer gives away free plastic toys and is melting the old ones; et-fucking-cetera.

“Melting the old ones”. Christ. PR fucking baloney. And the only way Coles could get to “zero emissions” is to cease doing business.

for $40 you will KNOW Creativity.

With the above in mind, I set about writing some spec “purpose” ads for other big brands, which they are free to use. Buy a subscription here to see all 10 of them, below, complete with explanations from the brands’ PR reps.
